Nicene Creed
The Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed — the rule of faith recited at every Divine Liturgy.
The Nicene Creed (more precisely the Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed) is the symbol of faith defined at Nicaea I (325 AD) and expanded at Constantinople I (381 AD). It defines: the full divinity of the Son (homoousios with the Father), the full divinity of the Holy Spirit (Lord and Giver of Life, worshipped and glorified with Father and Son), and the basic articles of the Christian faith. Recited at every Orthodox Divine Liturgy, it is the common confession of the whole Church — no additions or subtractions are permissible without an Ecumenical Council.
