Holy Tradition
The living transmission of the apostolic faith — encompassing Scripture, Creeds, councils, Fathers, and the liturgical life of the Church.
Holy Tradition (from paradidomi, to hand over) is the total living transmission of the apostolic faith: not a deposit of frozen formulas but the ongoing life of the Holy Spirit in the Church. Tradition encompasses: Holy Scripture, the Creeds, the canons of the Ecumenical Councils, the writings of the Holy Fathers, the liturgical texts, and the witness of the saints. Scripture and Tradition are not two sources of revelation but two forms of the one apostolic deposit.
