2 Maccabees
Chapter 15
7 But Maccabeus did ever with all confidence trust that he should have aid from the Lord.
21 Maccabaeus, perceiving the hosts that were before him, and the divers preparations of armour, and the fierceness of the elephants, stretching out his hands toward heaven, called upon the Lord that worketh wonders, knowing that victory cometh not by arms, but even as it seemeth good to him, giveth it to such as are worthy:
27 So fighting with their hands, and praying unto God with their hearts, they slew no less than five and thirty thousand men.
34 And then they praised the Lord, and lifted up their voices, saying, Blessed be he that hath kept his own place undefiled.
