Deuterocanon

The books in the Orthodox Old Testament not found in the Hebrew Bible — Tobit, Sirach, Maccabees, Wisdom, etc.

The deuterocanonical books are included in the Greek Septuagint translation of the Old Testament but absent from the Hebrew Masoretic text: Tobit, Judith, 1-2 Maccabees, Wisdom of Solomon, Sirach (Ecclesiasticus), Baruch, and additions to Esther and Daniel. The Orthodox Church includes these in its Old Testament canon, following the practice of the early Church which used the Septuagint. Protestantism calls them 'Apocrypha'; Roman Catholicism also calls them 'deuterocanonical.'
