Maranatha

Come, Lord — the Aramaic prayer for the return of Christ, preserved in the New Testament and the Didache.

Maranatha is an Aramaic phrase preserved in 1 Corinthians 16:22 and Revelation 22:20 ('Come, Lord Jesus'). It is the earliest Christian prayer for the Parousia — the return of Christ. The phrase can be parsed as 'maran atha' (Our Lord has come — affirming the Incarnation) or 'marana tha' (Come, Lord — a prayer for the Second Coming). The Didache uses it liturgically at the end of the Eucharist.
