Monophysitism
One-nature-ism — the teaching that Christ has only one nature after the Incarnation; the position of the Oriental Orthodox, who prefer 'Miaphysitism.'
Monophysitism is the Christological position rejected at Chalcedon (451 AD): that after the Incarnation, Christ has only one nature. The Oriental Orthodox churches (Coptic, Ethiopian, Armenian, Syriac) reject the label, preferring 'Miaphysite' and insisting they follow Cyril's formula of 'one united nature of the incarnate Word.' Modern dialogue has largely concluded the disagreement is terminological.
