Seraphim
The fiery angelic beings of Isaiah's vision — those who cry 'Holy, holy, holy' before the Throne; the model of pure worship.
The Seraphim (from Hebrew saraph, to burn) are the angelic beings described in Isaiah 6:2-7: six-winged creatures surrounding the divine throne, crying 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts.' Their cry — the Trisagion — is taken up in the Divine Liturgy: the congregation joins the Seraphim in their unceasing praise of the Holy Trinity. The Seraphim are the model of pure worship: entirely consumed by the fire of divine love, entirely given over to the glorification of God.
